Welders and PCP air compressors under $250 compared

Joining metal or filling tanks

Start with the job. To join steel you need a welder. The HZXVOGEN HVM200 is an arc welder that runs gasless flux-core wire, stick electrodes and, with an extra torch, lift TIG ¹. Miller says self-shielded flux-core needs no external shielding gas and copes with wind and outdoor work better than gas MIG, but leaves slag that must be chipped off and welds that look less refined ². The VEVOR machine is a resistance spot welder: it presses two or more sheets together and passes current through them ³, and VEVOR rates it for carbon-steel sheet up to 1/8 inch ⁴.

To charge a PCP air gun or a small high-pressure bottle you need a compressor instead. TUXING lists PCP devices, paintball tanks and mini diving tanks among the TXES061's uses ⁵⁶, and PCP air rifles, air pistols, paintball guns and HPA tanks for the TXET063 ⁷. Both are rated to 300 bar, or 4500 PSI ⁶⁷.

What the numbers on the box leave out

"3-in-1" needs extras. HZXVOGEN says the HVM200's lift TIG mode requires a torch bought separately ¹, and TIG also needs a shielding gas, usually argon ². Lift-arc valve torches are made for DC welding ³, and TIG on aluminum calls for AC ⁴, so don't count on that mode for aluminum.

"1/8 inch" may be a total. VEVOR's spec table does not say whether its 1/8 inch means one sheet or the stack ⁵. Miller's 110-volt MSW-41, also listed at 1.5 kVA and a 50% duty cycle, is rated for 1/8 inch of total material thickness ⁶.

"4500 PSI" is a ceiling, not a speed: it is the TXES061's maximum working pressure, and TUXING times its fills on a half-liter tank ⁷. For the same TXES061 fill from 0 to 300 bar, TUXING's store says about 25 minutes ⁷ and its maker's site about 13 ⁸. TUXING says both pumps are designed for small cylinders ⁸⁹: its store recommends no more than 1 liter for the TXES061 ⁷, and the maker's site says up to 2 liters for the TXET063 ⁹.

What separates a good one from a bad one

Welders: published ratings. Miller defines duty cycle as the minutes out of 10 a machine can weld continuously, and says it drops as amperage rises ¹. HZXVOGEN's HVM200 page states no duty cycle, amperage range or input voltage ². Voltage matters: Miller rates its Millermatic 211 PRO for up to 3/16-inch material on 120V and 3/8-inch on 240V ¹, so HZXVOGEN's "up to 5.0mm" ² means little without a voltage beside it. Miller also tells new buyers to budget for a helmet, gloves and jacket ¹.

Spot welders: material. TWI says aluminum needs two to three times the current of steel and degrades copper electrodes within very few welds ³; VEVOR's spec bullet says its unit is not suitable for aluminum or stainless ⁴.

Compressors: what happens when you look away. Airgun Depot, a retailer, says long fills build heat, "your biggest enemy," and suggests charging in 15- to 20-minute segments ⁵. TUXING says the TXET063 shuts off at a set pressure, temperature or current ⁶; the TXES061 must be shut down by hand ⁷. DAN notes that moisture can corrode scuba cylinders and that breathing gas must be tested regularly for contaminants ⁸; TUXING describes clean, dry output from the TXET063 ⁶ but cites no breathing-air standard.

What these prices mean

Each price here is the one we last checked on that product’s own page, and each page says the date. All four are AliExpress listings: AliExpress quotes new accounts a lower “Welcome deal” price and runs store coupons on top, so you may be shown less than we list. The struck-through figures are the sellers’ own, each claiming around 70% off, and we have not seen any of them charged. In our record the VEVOR spot welder and both TUXING compressors have not moved since we started recording them (September 27, September 29 and October 2, 2026); the HZXVOGEN crept from $94.68 to $98.06 over the same weeks, most of it on October 8.
