Storage and bedroom furniture under $150 compared
Illustration: Real Deal Meter
These are three unrelated purchases: a metal storage rack for a garage, pantry or closet, a tri-fold foam bed for guests or travel, and a pair of LED nightstands for a bedroom. None stands in for another, so start with your job, then check what that listing leaves out. We found no maker spec page for any of the three, so product claims here are the listings' own.
Our pick: Heavy-Duty Adjustable Metal Storage Rack, 60 or 72 in Tall. If you have the storage job, the rack is our pick of the three, because its main unknown, real capacity, is one you can manage yourself: keep loads modest, heavy items low and the rack anchored. The trade-off is that its 2,000-pounds-per-layer claim states none of the conditions established shelving brands attach to ratings, so treat it as unrated. The bed's key figure, foam density, is missing from its title, and the nightstands need anchoring whatever their height.
Established shelving brands rate each shelf for evenly spread weight and set a separate whole-unit limit; this listing's 2,000-pounds-per-layer title states neither, so load it as unrated, heaviest items low, and anchor it.
The title gives a 3- or 4-inch thickness, but foam density is the figure tied to durability, and we found no JHK page confirming a CertiPUR-US certification. Sold to sleep on, it should carry a permanent 16 CFR 1633 flammability label.
Two drawers and an LED light per stand, per the listing. CPSC's STURDY Act rule covers only clothing storage units at least 27 inches tall and 30 pounds with 3.2 cubic feet of enclosed storage, and with no Cubehom spec page showing where this set falls, anchor both.

Three jobs, three different readers
The rack is for the reader with tools, bins or pantry stock to get off the floor; the listing offers it in 60- and 72-inch heights and calls it height-adjustable. The JHK bed is for the reader who needs a spare place to sleep a few nights a year, or one to take on a trip; the listing describes a tri-fold memory foam bed, 3 or 4 inches thick, with a washable cover. The Cubehom set is for a bedroom that needs two matching bedside tables, each with two drawers and a built-in light, per the listing.
Two of the three share one safety step. CPSC says anchoring all furniture with drawers, doors, and shelves to the wall prevents tip-over injuries and deaths 1, which takes in both the rack and the nightstands. The bed is a different case: federal flammability rules define a mattress as a resilient material enclosed by a ticking and "intended or promoted for sleeping upon," and exclude toppers meant to be used with or on top of a mattress, so by that wording a foam bed in a cover sold to sleep on is a mattress 2.

What "2,000 pounds per layer" leaves out
Load ratings from established shelving brands come with conditions. Uline's boltless shelving pages say shelf capacity is "for each shelf based on evenly distributed loads" 1. Lyon's industrial shelving guide defines the per-shelf rating as the most one shelf can safely hold with the weight spread across its whole surface, not concentrated in one spot 2. The whole unit has a separate limit, which Lyon says is "not simply the sum of all individual shelf capacities" 2. Setup moves the numbers: Seville Classics rates one of its five-tier steel units at 300 lb per shelf and 1,500 lb in total on leveling feet, but 110 lb in total on wheels 3.
For scale, Uline lists 300 lb per shelf for its 48-by-24-inch, 72-inch-tall boltless unit 1 and 700 lb per shelf for its heavy-duty 60-by-24-inch, 72-inch-tall one 4. The listing's title claims 2,000 pounds per layer and does not say whether that assumes an even load or what the whole rack can hold. We treat the rack as unrated and suggest you load it that way.

"A UDL means the weight is spread evenly across the entire surface of the shelf, not concentrated in one spot." What separates a good buy from a bad one
For the rack, Lyon recommends loading the heaviest items on the bottom shelves, checking that the floor is level, and anchoring shelving to the floor or wall, especially tall units 1.
For the bed, thickness is the number on the box; Sleep Foundation ties durability to foam density, in pounds per cubic foot, saying denser foams tend to outlast lower-density ones 2. A CertiPUR-US seal means the foam meets the program's standards for content, emissions and durability 3, yet the program tells shoppers to check its directory whatever label is on the merchandise 4. We could not confirm JHK in that directory, so we claim no certification. A mattress sold without a foundation must carry a permanent label stating it meets 16 CFR part 1633, the federal open-flame standard 5; look for it on delivery.
For the nightstands, CPSC's STURDY Act tip-over rule covers clothing storage units made after September 1, 2023, only if they are free-standing, at least 27 inches tall, at least 30 pounds and hold at least 3.2 cubic feet of enclosed storage 6. Without a Cubehom spec page giving this set's height, weight and drawer volume, we cannot say whether it is covered. Anchor them either way 7.
The complete industrial shelving specification guideLyon (Lyon Workspace Products)— "We recommend properly anchoring all shelving units to the floor and/or wall to ensure stability. This is especially important for tall units or units with a high height-to-depth ratio." "As a best practice, we recommend loading the heaviest items on the bottom shelves." "Verify that your concrete floor is level and can withstand the total weight of the fully loaded shelving system." Published 2026-01-26.
How Is Foam Density Measured?Sleep Foundation (Daniel Noyed)— "In the case of foam, it is measured in pounds per cubic foot (PCF)." "Denser foams are more durable and tend to outlast lower-density materials." Memory foam: low density less than 3 PCF, medium 3 to 5 PCF, high more than 5 PCF. Updated July 15, 2025.

16 CFR 1633.12 LabelingeCFR, Office of the Federal Register— Each mattress set subject to the Standard must bear a permanent, conspicuous and legible label giving the manufacturer (and importer, for imports), address, month and year of manufacture, model, prototype ID and a certification; for a mattress sold without a foundation the certification reads "This mattress meets the requirements of 16 CFR part 1633 (federal flammability (open flame) standard for mattresses)" followed by "when used without a foundation". Clothing Storage Units (Business Guidance)U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission— A clothing storage unit is a "furniture item with drawers and/or hinged doors intended for the storage of clothing typical with bedroom furniture" that "meets all of the following criteria": "Free-standing"; "Height of at least 27 inches"; "Mass of at least 30 pounds"; "Enclosed storage volume of at least 3.2 cubic feet". What these prices mean
Each price here is the one we last checked on that product’s own page, and each page says the date. All three are AliExpress listings: AliExpress quotes new accounts a lower “Welcome deal” price and runs store coupons on top, so you may be shown less than we list. The struck-through figures are the sellers’ own — the nightstands’ is exactly twice their price, and the other two claim around 69% off — and we have not seen any of them charged. In our record the rack has moved between $41.05 and $42.44 since October 7, 2026, the JHK bed has stayed at $47.15 since October 6, and the nightstands dropped from $139.82 to $123.46 on October 9.
